Myers Briggs Role Call

September 21 2018

Hey guys, I'm an ENTP - The Debater. I'm an ideas guy and I can argue well. It's what makes me a good salesman. I was wondering if a certain type it MBTI personality would be more prevalent on the site. What's your type? if you've never done a Myers Briggs test, it's worth checking out www.16personalities.com takes 5-10 minutes but the results are really interesting to read up on. - Posted from rhpmobile

We did this test as part of staff development. Also did another one based on colours (I’m red personality). Both are surprisingly and scarily accurate. - Posted from rhpmobile

Can you really boil all of humanity, with all of our foibles, strengths etc from individual to individual, into a simple online test that gives you a 4 letter personality type? Convince me to do one.

You're either curious or you're not, it's up to you. This thread is very timely I was trying to remember the Briggs Myer test name and here it is, thanks for posting. I can't remember my result but I do remember some of what it said, my sub category represents 4% of the population.

I am apparently an INTJ-T, an architect type. I agreed with the analysis mostly, but I find these things challenging because there are two sides to my life - my personal and professional. In my personal life I feel very much in control, my professional pretty much not at all. My results in each category were skewed neither one way or the other, if you get my drift, I was pretty much 51/49 in each category, which actually does reflect my personality as I am seemingly self-contradictory to some, and yet I make perfect sense to myself. Apparently I find many social conventions outright stupid - I would disagree with that as I think they are all pretty much stupid. Oh, and I find it hard to hide my disdain for people I think are stupid - gets me into trouble at work a bit that one.

Digging up an old post but thought I'd give some insight. Your personality type according to MBTI does not define you as a person. It looks at the priorities your brain has when processing information. It has more to do with how you view the world, rather than how you interact with it. Every human has had different experiences, just because two people of the same type are given the same information, does not mean they'll come to the same conclusion, just that the information will be processed in the same order. The first letter in your type I/E is simply whether you lean toward introversion or extraversion. Do you recharge your mental energy on your own, or with others respectively. Then comes intuition vs sense I/S. Does your brain prioritize concepts and ideas, or tangible things? These are your perceptive traits. The thinking vs feeling T/F axis is rather self explanatory, but doesn't imply that if you type as one, you don't experience the other. Judgement and perception J/P are referred to as your lifestyle traits. Judgers are more likely to base a decision on their T/F. Perceivers are more likely to prefer their N/S. So for myself, an ENTP, I recharge my batteries via socializing. When presented with information, I'll attempt to explore the concept, then think about each part of the information in detail. When making a decision, I'll likely base that decision on my intuition, than my thoughts, for better or worse. I still experience the whole range of cognitive functions, everyone does. This is just looking at how my brain does it's problem solving. There is actually more depth to the theory, that describes function stacks. Different types have preferences to extraverted or introverted functions. If it interests you, I'd reccomend reading up on it, as it is quite interesting. - Posted from rhpmobile
