The Hottest Love and Sex Trends of 2013

What’s new in sex and dating? A lot actually! Sex trends are constantly evolving from right under our noses. This year it’s been quite a year of non-stop turns and twists to the trends of love and sex. With the year nearing the end we thought we look back at what made us go; oooh, aah, uhm ,arghh and what the…..

What were then the love and sex trends that marked 2013?

Let’s have a look at some sex trends for 2013:

There has been a rise of sex toys purchases, a rise on bondage, a rise on porn, more fake-ups, a rise on single girls pride, a rise in cougars, and yes, shocking more women are cheating, and we came to realize that exercising increases our orgasms.

Let’s look at these sex and dating trends for 2013 individually:

1. Exercise equals more and better orgasms:

The newest exercise trend should be getting us all to the gym with a new found passion ladies. In a recent study from the KINSEY INSTITUTE, 45% of women say they’ve experienced an exercise-induced orgasm proving that “coregasm” is more than just a rumour. Exercise – induced orgasm is the pleasure of endorphins released in your body due to strenuous muscle work. In the aim to tone up their bodies and achieve rock-hard flat abs, some women have been experiencing spontaneous orgasms while performing some exercises that target the deep core muscles. However, if moaning in the middle of your gym class is not your thing, maybe try another gym class that still helps strengthen your pelvis.

2. The rise of sex toys and bondage.

In 2013, almost everyone has had a go with Kegel beads, rope, binding tape, spanking paddles, cuffs, whips, etc. The reason for this, as we all know, the now famous Fifty Shapes of Grey. The trilogy’s enormous success has inspired manufacturer of sex toys to sell the same toys as the ones in the books - clever marketing. Kegel beads reported a whooping 400% increase in sales, for example, this year only. These kinky beads add pleasure during sex and they can also help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. People were inspired to kink-up their sex lives in a new and exciting ways. Sex toys in 2013 are readily available without the cultural taboo stigma in past years. There has been a growing interest in alternative sex.

In addition, mainstream has been exposed to images and ideas of S&M through pop-culture exploiting S&M in a variety of media outlets, including music videos, films and song. Lady Gaga has repetitively used fetish and S&M theme, imagery and lyrics in her music; Rihanna sang about whips and chains .The exposure to these images and ideas has planted the seed for healthy experimentations in the mainstream bedrooms. It seems that this seems to be a trend here to stay. If you haven’t yet experimented it’s time to grab some handcuffs, blindfold and have a wild night.

3. Porn

Here’s a subject that has had numerous articles written about it this year. Addressing issues of easy availability online and its effect on relationships. Porn from the more traditional Hollywood production to the amateur production, has found a new ground of interest in many of our lives. Women especially, have shown an increase interest in the arena that was notoriously dominated by men.

Porn can be a great sexual enhancer as long as we remember that porn actors are there to glorify sex and in no way is porn-sex like real-life sex. This year we’ve also seen the unique approach in which porn sites can create awareness. A non-profitable pornographic site, Come4.org, devoted itself to funding charitable and ethical driven projects. It’s first charitable debut – helping to fund Asta Philpot Foundation, which aims at raising public awareness about sexual rights of disabled people.

4. More Fake-ups/ second chances

Celebrities like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart and also with Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have all been guilty of it. Apparently, in 2013, more women have given an ex a second chance, rebound relationships have had an increase, the on-again, off-again cycle. Why is getting back with your ex so tempting? Social Media is to blame. Social media provides a medium to reminiscent on the ‘good –times’ and allowing for forgiveness, especially so if you’re a woman. Women are more forgiving than men; women are more willing to work things out after the relationship falls apart because of cheating. Point to remember is to remove your ex from your list of friends to avoid having push updates on your ex’s status.

5. The rise of the confident single girl.

Women in 2013 have been more concerned with their career than trying to tie the knot. Women are more economically stable and don’t feel the pressure to combine resources/ salaries with a men to survive. In 2013, women are more independent as it is not necessary for them to rely on another income for survival. Hurray to enjoying being single longer.

6. Cougars

Demi and Ashton might not be together anymore but they have helped brake down stigmas associated with cougars. Jennifer Lopez is dating 25-year-old Casper Smart, Sharon Stone and Martin Mica (28yrs age gap), and Madonna and Brahim Zaibat (29yrs. age gap). This is a trend that will continue on because women are taking better care of themselves than men. As women grow older they are more confident and know what they want in life, sexually and in relationships. Dating a younger man is no longer taboo.

7. More women are cheating

Apparently women are almost on equal grounds as men when it comes to cheating. In 2013, more women have admitted to cheating and it comes with the rise of women using online sites coupled with a rise of women in the workplace. Women are interacting with men more regularly and have more chances to cheat.

8. To Twerk

This sexy move confined to the world of the strippers has this year come into focus with the likes of Miley Cyrus and J.Lo using it in their video and stage performances. To Twerk has become so popular that has official word of the year in the Oxford Dictionaries 2013.
Because one cannot get enough of watching sexy booty shake to music, feast your eyes and watch 'Sexy Twerk Choreography 2013'

9. Great BJ

Apparently not all BJs are the same. According to sex experts Ian Kerner, PH.D, author of He Comes Next, guys are claiming that the hottest new way to get a BJ is while standing. More blood rushes to the pelvic region while standing which results in a firmer erection and a greater orgasm.
Want to blow your guy’s mind? Have him standing upright while you pay him lip service for a truly explosive orgasm.
