Valentine’s Day for Singles

Ah yes. It’s Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year! This is your one chance to let someone you have had an eye on know that you kinda dig them. Whether you go all out and bare your soul, or you decide to keep it anonymous and simple, today is the day to make it all happen. Let’s look at some ways to make Valentine’s Day memorable.

If you’ve already been making the moves and getting the right vibes out to someone you like, this is the day to seal the deal. You don’t have to make a phone call first thing in the morning but be sure to get in touch before the afternoon. With any luck, the object of your affection will have been waiting with much anticipation. Add an invitation to dinner to the phone call, or since the weather is good, perhaps a romantic picnic for two at your local park. Don’t forget the champagne!

If we haven’t quite got to the first date stage yet with your intended paramour, then perhaps today is the right time to get the message out that you are seriously interested. Let’s not play games. Valentine’s Day is about being honest. Tell the person you like that you’d love to get to know them better. Send a gorgeous bunch of flowers but think happy and bright rather than your usual dozen long-stemmed red roses. Chocolates are always welcome so perhaps send on a little box of quality Belgian dark chocolates.

For those who haven’t quite got the groundwork happening for a romantic tryst this year, take heart and know that Valentine’s Day is not just for the paired. If there was ever an excuse to catch up with an old flame, a friend you haven’t seen much of lately, or the friend that is your shadow, now is that time. Go to the movies or book a table at a funky new restaurant. Just enjoy the company of your friends and also yourself. Who said you had to be attached at the hip if you don’t want to be? Or just because you haven’t found your Mr/Ms Right (or even your Mr/Mrs Right Now) yet doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the love in the air with people you like and care about.

While Valentine’s Day may be the perfect opportunity to catch up with good friends or family (Remember, in the USA you can give Valentine’s to anyone), it can also be a good chance to meet someone new. Maybe it’s time to bite the bullet and ask out your current crush. Now is the time as romance fills everyone around you.

You could send a Valentine card to someone who you have been missing or thinking about and tell them how much they mean to you. It might be fun to send a card to someone you’ve been admiring for a while and sign it anonymously. You can always bring up the courage to confess your crush later. We’re also in the age of the Net so sending a E-Card is pretty easy and usually free. That should warm the hearts of every romantic penny-pincher!

Another great idea would be to throw a dinner party and tell each of your single friends to invite another single friend (or 2 or 3). Then you can spend the night meeting new people who in future can introduce you to more people. Why not organise and after-work drinks session for singles and post it on the Parties and Events page of the Community section. Or add a date to DateFinder for the evening and meet someone new.

Whatever it is you do this 14th make sure you’re doing something and remember; RedHotPie loves you!
