Though not one of Australia’s biggest film festivals, it punches well above its weight with a whopping 23 Australian film premiers. It line up is one of the most dynamic array of exciting and fresh films seen yet. Definitely worth checking out. Here are a few examples of some of the films on show:

I Am a Sex Addict
Director: Caveh Zahedi (USA)

This autobiographical film follows Director Zahedi as he describes his life as a film maker and certified sex addict. The movie deals with his coming to grips with his compulsive condition and fetishes in a warm and funny way.
Though a serious condition there is no doubting this black comedy will have many viewers rolling in the aisles.

Fuck
Director: Steven Anderson (USA)

This brilliant documentary charts the history and use of one of the most universal, though commonly misunderstood words, whatever language you might speak. This documentary examines the many meanings of the most useful words via interviews with a variety of celebrities such as Billy Connolly (who else).  Rapper Ice T’s description of the word as a sexual exclamation makes the ticket prize of this movie more than worth it alone.
Luna Leederville: June -Fri 14th & Sun 16th  - 7:00PM.

Sydney Film Festival
Though the Sydney Film Festival has just come and gone, it marks yet another successful return of one of Australia’s largest and most successful film festivals. Here is a review of one of the stand out feature films:

Lie With Me
Director: Clement Virgo (Canada)

Lie With Me is not your classic tale of love and the happy ever after, it is a vigorous and erotically charged movie of sex and desire. The two protagonists seek nothing more in their relationship than to enjoy uncomplicated sex with no emotional ties. Offering far more than pure titillation, watching this movie is an exploration of the exhilaration of sexual freedom.
