The Depths of the Block List

The Depths of the Block List

I'm sure we've all done it and we all have our reasons for doing it. Yes, I'm talking about the deep dark sin bin of the block list.
I've often heard guys complain that they've been added to a block list without even making contact through a flirt or message. Does anyone do that and what's your reason for it?
Do you ever go through your block list, have second thoughts and take some people off your block list?
My main reason for adding people to my block list is if they've been really rude or abusive (or both). If I've told them I'm not interested in communicating with them but the messages or flirts still keep coming through.
I have been guilty of having second thoughts and removed people from my block list on a few occasions, only to realise why and then add then back on again so these occasions are getting fewer and far between.

My reasons

I put people on my block for pretty much the same reasons as you OP. A crass first message, an abusive second message, or after continuing to receive messages form someone when I've made it clear I'm not interested.

I never block anyone for sending a flirt, simply because I never look at my flirts. I also don't check who's been viewing my profile, so those who are just pic collectors and don't make contact stay off the block list too.

I've never had second thoughts and removed someone from the list. They're on there for a reason, and likely haven't changed the behaviour that got them on the list in the first place.

My Block List

My block list has been close to empty for a long time now... just the way I like it... Hakuna Matata

The only profile on it is currently there because they kept sending me party invitations and the excitement of receiving .

I tried blocking the profile that sends the RHP Event invitations too but that didn't work.

Apparently some use it as a great tool for cutting down the posts from threads they are following by people you want to ignore. Block them and they will never show on your home stream. I'm blocked by LOTS of them.

Great topic Wicca, Peachy, I'll be interested to see other replies.

New to blocking

I have only recently started using the block list, for people that after getting the 'sorry not interested ' msg back continue to try and make contact, generally every few weeks with the same repeat msg that sent the first time.

Hardly ever used

My block box was empty until a few months ago, a very rude man who started to taunt and jeer because I sent him a thanks but no thanks template reply had the dubious honour of being the first in my block list. He remains the sole occupant till this day.

...

My block list wouldn't even cover a little toe. Just one person in there.

Only Two

And only because they got very abusive when I said nicely " Thank you for your message but your not what I am looking for".
I don't block because of flirts. Most guys on here are nice.

Only one page now

For the same reasons as everyone else. People who are abusive or stalking/harassing. I often forget that the option is there.

And no I don't reconsider generally. The people on there are on there for a very good reason.

Blocked after being viewed

I don't have anyone on my block list. I somehow ended up on one after being viewed. That's me viewed, not them. That did wonders for the ego, was it really that awful, that even the small chance I may message or flirt meant put a block in first?

The thing about block lists that shits me, is you can't see who has put you on their's. There's no way to tell the difference between being blocked or a real dead profile, short of having a dummy account to check. You still wouldn't be able to message someone whose blocked you, so you should be able to see who has put you on a list.

Mine is rather large...

I block for a variety of reasons... if they have been abusive when I've said 'Thanks, but no thanks' or if they have persisted to a point of creepiness.

I have also blocked an ex lover or two who made a point of letting me know they were still using my public pics for their enjoyment, despite no longer wanting to use my mind or body for said enjoyment - whatevs, just my preference not to be used as someone's wank bank.

I have blocked guys/couples for endlessly looking at my profile and/or hitting on me in the forums without ever sending me a message or a flirt.

I have blocked a few people just because they shit me to tears Nope, not you Peachy!

Haven't blocked anyone to keep them out of my news stream, but I don't even get most of my friend's comments/likes in my stream?

Some days I block guys for sending me a friend request, when I clearly say in my profile that my friends are real life friends and I wont accept requests from strangers - depends on my mood

I figure it's my profile and I can use the block button as I choose

To block or not to block..

Ive blocked a few over the years and been blocked by a few as well, tho only by forum posters who dislike my extraordinary strait forward posts and think I'm a bwitch.

😛😂😛

Never unblocked anyone. They're there for a reason. Sometimes I forget why. Hahaha

I have quite a few. anything from abusive messages, to those known to ghost , to people I've been warned off of by people i trust (yes i know you should form your own opinions - but I trust my friends) to ones who look at your profile over and over and over and over.

Blocking

Over my years here I've become much more liberal with my use of the block button. I don't put up with any rubbish anymore.

My approach to and reasons for blocking are similar to Betty's. Although I have also blocked people so that their forum comments don't show up in my home feed, as it means less temptation to engage in pointless back and forth with people whose comments I consistently find to be annoying, to put it bluntly.

I have occasionally removed people from my block list, it's fairly rare though.

Add

Betty and LD's reasons together, and you get why my block list is more than one page.

Fit_Geek... maybe the person who blocked you knew you, or thought they knew you, or something else that was entirely about them, and not you? People are strange, and the world is full of both wonderful and fucked up people - maybe you should think of it as a lucky miss?

Does it really matter if the profile is genuinely dead, or if you've been blocked? Same result, surely? We all have our likes and dislikes, each to their own... I can't understand anyone feeling the loss of someone who isn't interested in them? Why would I want to be with someone who didn't want to be with me??

I, personally, have no desire to know who has blocked me (don't even check the profiles of other forum regulars to see if they like me or not this week), and certainly wouldn't want those I have blocked getting a notification - both for their sake, and mine

If you REALLY want to know if someone has blocked you, ask a mate to look up the profile and see if it's still active - pretty simple way to work it out :)

Anyway... that's my very long winded way of saying "Think yourself lucky, perhaps you dodged one crazy fucker?"

if I should laugh or cry... I'm going with laughing, only because I'm pretty sure you didn't have a pet rabbit... recently, anyway

Phew it's not me 😓 that person must feel really special 😀😉

My block list is extensive 😇 I have about half of Australia blocked at this point in time 😊

The only people who I ever take off my block list are people from the forum sometimes, they might say something nice to me and I go all gooey 👯 then I get annoyed with them the following week, block them again lol why? Because I can 😉

Never thought of ...

... blocking forumites who annoy me because I thought that was petty and everyone's different so live and let live.

But... we learn something new everyday! I've decided to be petty to the petty!
