Active dates and meet and greets

August 20 2019

Talking is great except when you are nervous, out of your comfort zone or just say the wrong thing like we all do from time to time on a first meeting. There goes the first impression.

Who else would feel more comfortable running, hiking, dancing, working out etc? Somewhere you feel more like yourself and under less pressure.

What is your favourite way to meet new people? Would you be interested in an active date or active meet and greet?

A game of pool, a few drinks, and chit chat seems to work pretty well for us.

I have organised a ten pin bowling night and a bare-foot lawn bowls afternoon/evening. They both seemed to work well as a form of 'social lubricant'.

There were all manner of bowling skills on display at both events but no-one seemed too worried about that aspect. I think having an activity to focus on gave all the participants some conversation fodder that made for a relaxed atmosphere.

I should add that the down side of organising a theme-based meeting is that you can (inadvertently) discourage some people from attending if they feel that the theme isn't quite their thing.

Equally, the up side of a theme-bases event is that you get to meet other people with whom you share at least two common interests, lol...😉

Nah, would defs not be interested in anything like that. Cute dress, gorgeous perfume/cologne, Beers, wines, cocktails, prawns or steaks or BOTH, live music a beautiful pier to walk on back to a hotel room..... thats a meet 👍🏻

Gah.... hit enter too fast 🤦‍♀️
My Hubby has had first meets with other men that were "activity based"..... a hike a gym session, crabbing and fishing trip.

Anything active that doesn't involve alcohol. A workout would be great. Nothing better to get horny lol well maybe that's just me

Sounds like a fabulous idea, some would be weather permitting. I like the OP idea of a hike, nothing to strenuous, I’d prefer to save my energy for playing. Showing my country upbringing, a bonfire & BBQ a few drinks, background music. Or a beach party in summer would be good fun, starting late afternoon or early evening.

Is barefoot bowling, ten pin bowling with no shoes 👠

To me, but then again I well know I am not anywhere like the type of person who you seek.😁

Having been to the two events SuppleHands has run, they are what would appeal to me because they are relaxed, fun, and provide opportunity to get to know each other through a common activity. The ones the OP mention don't seem to be conducive to conversationn which helps in the whole 'get to know you' process.

OP, if you are after an active event which appeals to your fit & healthy requirements in partners, then for sure suggest them to potential partners. 👍

Is good, maybe a bbq in a national park where people can go for a walk or hang out by the sausages if that is their want.

I would really would enjoy meet up for a coffeedrin or a meal and nice conversation. And that with 10% no pressure in a sense that if you come along and you or me don't like it, just say so and go. No bad feeling about. I have done a few times and is so good...

Some really great ideas. Different things appeal to different people. We have tried coffee and drinks and we were both so nervous, especially me.

On motorcycles, maybe the Quindanning pub for an overnighter.

A public place for coffee/drink is all good with me. Gives me an option for a quick escape or decide after that, for a more active meet (2nd meet).

Not interested in active/inactive group meet ups, unless it is with people I already know.

Hell no! I like to dress up, smell good and make a good physical first impression on a date. Not interested in getting sweaty, red-faced and letting someone see just how skinny fat I am by exercising, I save the sweaty, red-faced look for later down the track in the bedroom
And super fit people intimidate me and probably wouldn't be attracted to us anyway...I'm a big fan of night time drinks or a light meal in a nice bar. Or meeting at any of the events where you can dress to impress.

I still like the coffee / drink senario. I look at it this way ' you are both nervous anyway , so the only thing that'll settle that down is if you find common ground. And isn't that the whole purpose meeting in the first place ' to check see if theres any chemistry ? Doesnt matter if nothing eventuates , at least you tryed and now know. Besides ' you probally made a nice friend which ever way it goes..

    Somewhere chilled.

A coulple of beers (Georgie loves Beers)

    A few games of pool

Stand up comedy gig , the sound of laughter can definitely take some pressure ones self.

My last few initial meet and greets have been at the local animal shelter drop off some food and blankets and meet the residents great way to show your personality...

Some amazing ideas. I love the animal shelter idea except I would end up owner more animals than our council allows.

The team building idea is great. Not so sure of the heights thing. I am a total wimp with heights. I do enjoy dressing up, dancing and events. The coffee and drinks thing has never worked for us.

We used to do a pub triathlon, called the Ironman (but women occasionally) entered, these days it would be called the Bogan Olympics.Adapt to your pub.Run, out the bar to the beer garden, up the stairs and around the verandah to the front, down the stairs and back into the front bar.Eat a raw onionScull a midi of something disgusting like West EndAnother LapEat a cold pie, scull a midi of Stones Green Ginger WineLapEtc, Some of the drinks will bring back nightmares, like Ouzo, Southern Comfort. lolYeah I know pretty Crude, but funny as.

Although, i am seeking a lover who would like to hike. I think it is best to meet in a public place for intial meetings.

    Active first meeting ideas on my list are;

    • theme park
    • mini golf
    • walk in public area
    • swim at beach
    • arcade games at bar
    • indoor trampoline centre
    • daring each other to eat gross food

Temt me into silliness and seduce me with shared laughter.

    Each to their own

But a hiking date can turn out to be a terrible idea.
We go for long hikes from time to time, and honestly it’s hard to see any sensuality or sexuality in any situation when you are out of breath on top of some treacherous trail trying not to lose your balance while all sweaty and stinky.
And honestly would you want to meet a total stranger for the first time in a remote location?

We are very comfortable with coffee dates in cozy cafes, so far we never felt any excessive anxiety etc.

But then we both have jobs where talking to strangers is part of the job everyday.
So it doesn’t really bother us.
